Recital a Key Moment for RVCC Music Student

On Nov. 19, The melodious sounds of music could be heard echoing from the Arts Building as one of RVCC music students practiced, but it was more or less a private concert. The student of piano, voice, jazz and mixed ensemble, was Eric Hayes. I happened to catch him as he applied and combined his unbelievably mature voice with his refined piano playing. I had the pleasure of being able to interview the performer about his individual talent, and individual story. I asked him how he was able to show off his talents and at the same time study for his exams. Eric Hayes, who has been playing the piano and singing since the age of 5. "I love to do it, performing is what I live for,” said Hayes. “It comes naturally. I feel very comfortable and I have enjoyed my time with the RVCC music department. I find time to study." And being very comfortable while performing is important to Hayes, who plays three days a week at bars and clubs in Hoboken and New York City.
